Plot Summary: Not all Christmas stories are full of cheer - take the disturbing childhood of Billy Lenz, for example. Born during Christmas, little Billy Lenz suffered from Jaundice because of a liver defect, and was unwanted by his cruel mother (who only saw the husband she’d come to despise when she looked at her son). While she let her true feelings be known to him with beatings and abuse, only his father showed him compassion like a parent should. But on Christmas Eve in 1975, his unfaithful mother gave him one of the most cruelest gifts of all, as she made five-year-old Billy observe his beloved father’s brutal murder at her own hands and those of her lover with a claw hammer. Before burying him under the house, she locked Billy in the attic for good, to hold his silence of what he’d witnessed that night. His only contact from then on was when she came to punish him for making a noise or other such trivial nuisances, while she was with her lover and starting a "new" family. As Billy’s mother fell pregnant with a daughter and treated her with love, which Billy had never experienced with his mother, Billy came out of the attic on Christmas Eve 1991, taking a rolling pin to his mother’s head, and a pointed tree ornament to her lovers eye before leaving his sister as disfigured as he was by blinding her. Before he could finish the job police forced there way in and dragged him off to mental institution and his sister a foster home, whose eye sight was saved in one eye… but not the other. Cut to the present where a security guard has been monitoring Billy’s progress since he came into his care, back in 1991. Knowing full well that during this time for fifteen years, Billy has made a break from this asylum, but never succeeding… until now. Far away, his childhood home is now a sorority house, where nine sisters and their house-mother are celebrating the holiday season together …but tonight they’re about to get a surprise visitor… and it’s not Santa.

| Leave your commentA List Of The Top 3 Baseball Movies
It was in the year 1898 that Thomas Edison produced the first baseball movie ever made. He also featured two amateur New Jersey ball clubs that played their hearts out in a nine inning game.
"Right off the Bat" was the first actual baseball movie featured in the year 1915. Since then, as many as 250 baseball movies have been released in America.
Are you among those who love both, baseball and movies? If you do not get time for both, you can watch some baseball movies. Here is a list of the top baseball movies.
Long Gone (1987, USA)
Cast: William Petersen, Virginia Madsen, Dermot Mulroney, Larry Riley, Katy Boyer, Henry Gibson
This short movie was made over twenty years ago. Virginia Madsen, William Petersen, and Dermot Mulroney who acted in this movie were not very well known at that time. But, today, everyone is aware of these famous personalities. "Long Gone" is the most authentic snapshot that was ever taken about the Minor Leagues. This movie looks into the heart of Petersen’s character, Stud Cantrell, who headed for a great Major League career till he took a blast of shrapnel to his knee in World War II. It is worth watching.
Bull Durham (1988, USA)
Cast: Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Trey Wilson, Robert Wuhl, William O’Leary, David Neidorf
"Bull Durham" has portrayed the game very well, both on and off the field. It conveys the message that baseball is a great game but it is just a game. In this movie, Costner is at his best as a veteran catcher. Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon have also acted really well. This movie was written and directed by former minor league baseball player Ron Shelton.
The Natural (1984)
Cast: Robert Redford, Glenn Close, Kim Basinger, Wilford Brimley, Barbara Hershey, Robert Prosky, Richard Farnsworth, Joe Don Baker, John Finnegan
This sentimental movie was successful in dividing peoples’ views. It reflects the flaws in the economic and gambling systems that often plot to corrupt the game. "The Natural" is based on a novel by Bernard Malamud and features Robert Redford, Kim Basinger, Robert Duvall, Michael Madsen and the late Darrin McGavin. It is, no doubt, on number one.

| Leave your commentThe Best Band Movies
There have been some bad movies in various places those in the music industry (Glitter unexpectedly comes to mind). But, in that place have also been some price not only watching, but hearing to, over and over again. The following is our list of the best band-related movies. Sit back, relax, and, for principle sake, turn up the volume.
Eddie and the Cruisers (1983): This early 1980’s film told the tale of a 1960’s rock band who becomes famous after playing gigs throughout New Jersey. After this band, aptly named Eddie and the Cruisers, makes an album that is everything Eddie hoped it would be, the album is rejected by the head of the record company. Devastated, Eddie drives his car off a bridge and Eddie, as well as his reject album, disappears. Twenty years later, a television producer decides to do a documentary on Eddie and the Cruisers and reconnects with many of the band mates, all of whom have moved on. It is during this time that an older looking Eddie resurfaces, thus setting up the sequel: Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives.
Not only did this movie touch on the disappointment and sacrifices of the music industry, but it also put an unknown band on the map: John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band. Performing the soundtrack to the original and the sequel, John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown band released the theme song of the movie, “On the Dark Side;” it was a hit single and can still be heard on present-day radio stations.
This is Spinal Tap (1984): A Rob Reiner directed mockumentary, This is Spinal Tap features a heavy metal rock band and its wild behavior. A film that pokes fun at the music industry, certain scenes offended some musicians, at least initially, hitting rather close to home. However, once people realized they shouldn’t take themselves so seriously, the intention of the movie - to be satirical and make fun of pretentiousness - was made more obvious.
Many of the scenes were improvised and ad-libbed, leaving the outcome very funny to many viewers. This is Spinal Tap was listed as 64 on Bravo’s 100 Funniest Movies and climbed to 29 on AFI’s 100 Years…100 Laughs. It was also quickly made into a cult classic and deemed, in 2002, as culturally significant by the Library of Congress. From here, it was chosen for preservation in the National Film Registry.
That Thing You Do (1996): Any film that is written by, directed by, and stars Tom Hanks has got to be good: this film was just that. Taking place in the 1960’s, this film features Hanks as a manager of the Wonders, a one-hit wonder with Beatles-like undertones. As the Wonders climb their way to fame, getting on the radio and eventually gaining a record contract and touring nationally, the foundations within the band begin to unravel. The band soon follows.
Made up of an all-star cast, including Tom Everett Scott, Steve Zahn, Liv Tyler, Charlize Theron, Rita Wilson, and Giovanni Ribisi, That Thing You Do also features all-star music with a soundtrack that includes music by Rick Elias, Scott Rogness, and Howard Shore. The movie’s most memorable song, "That Thing you Do," mirrored fiction when it became a hit and helped launch the career of Fountains of Wayne.
Almost Famous (2000): Written and directed by Cameron Crowe, Almost Famous was just that - almost famous - when it came to its less than block bluster performance at the box office. Critically, however, it received high acclaim including four Academy Award nominations. Renowned film critic Roger Ebert called it the "best movie of the year."
Following the journey of William Miller, Almost Famous tells the tale of a young man caught in a whirlwind of madness, excitement, and lust when he tours with a rock band. A semi-autographical story, this movie is based on Crowe’s experience as a young writer touring with Led Zeppelin.
Musically, Almost Famous won the Grammy for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media. The film featured songs from Elton John, Simon and Garfunkel, Thunderclap Newman, Peter Frampton, and Nancy Wilson.
Dreamgirls (2006): Released nationally on Christmas Day 2006, Dreamgirls became a hit, winning three Golden Globes and two Oscars. Adapted from the 1981 Broadway musical, Dreamgirls is set in the 1960’s and 1970’s; it follows the careers of The Dreamettes, a Detroit group with a strong resemblance to The Supremes. Dreamgirls takes us into the world of R&B and the Motown movement that changed our nation.
Dreamgirls may be best remembered as launching the film career of Jennifer Hudson, a former American Idol contestant. But, it is likely it will also be remembered for its music. The soundtrack is filled with music that is more present day than the score of the 1981 Broadway play, but still pays homage to R&B roots. Among the singers featured are Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Eddie Murphy, and Jamie Foxx.

| Leave your commentBest Movie of 2007 - Ratatouille
By James Christopher from The Times
Anton Ego, the restaurant critic of The Grim Eater, is one of the greatest performances of Peter O’Toole’s career. We don’t actually see the 108-year-old Oscar hopeful in the flesh. But we luxuriate in his withering voice. And what a tool that is when it is coupled to the creep he possesses in Brad Bird’s marvellous cartoon Ratatouille. Ego is the most feared food critic in Paris. His office is shaped like a coffin. In fact he’s shaped like a coffin, and his deadly words drive chefs to their graves. I haven’t enjoyed a painted villain this much since George Sanders’s Shere Khan.
It takes a lifetime to learn how to deliver a fatal insult, and O’Toole has had at least three. He is the wicked spice in a film with the most implausible brief since Elvis returned from Mars. The real hero of this preposterous kitchen fable is a cashmere-blue rodent called Rémy, who has the culinary genius of Raymond Blanc, and the misfortune to look like a rat. He is a rat, but he walks on his hind legs and speaks with a neurotic Woody Allen twang. He is horrified by the junk that his friends and family scavenge from dustbins, and he would doubtless campaign for the abolition of rat poison in junk food if he was 5ft 2in taller and called Shamus Oliver. This Pixar fairytale is so brilliantly painted that you give up caring whether it makes the slightest bit of sense. This is the wonderful point of Bird’s film. Ratatouille is an extraordinary demonstration of just how close animation can get to touch, smell, taste, and what the world might look like through a pair of rat’s eyeballs.
Rémy (plaintively voiced by Patton Oswalt) is obviously not a bog-standard representative of vermin. He doesn’t understand why humans shriek at the sight of him. And he has an insane dream – augmented by the ghost of a fat chef (skewered by one of Ego’s reviews) – that he can become a cook in a prestigious restaurant. But Rémy’s 2in-tall views of cobblestones, puddles, gutters, drainpipes and rooftops are the real miracles in Ratatouille. I’ve never experienced a film that could evoke flavour. This reeks of Paris.

The plot doesn’t flatter the sensational art. It does at least have the grace to send up its own utter silliness. Rémy befriends a clumsy and gawky kitchen boy, Linguini (Lou Romano), who hides the rat under his chef’s hat. The unlikely duo devise a string of winning dishes, which puts them on a collision course with a jealous, pint-sized head chef (a Hispanic version of Shrek’s Lord Farquaad), the local health and safety inspector, and of course the dread critic of The Grim Eater.

The Top 10 Sports Movies of All Time
There have been thousands of sports movies throughout the years. Some have been absolute crap and most are mediocre at best, but there are that select few that remain deep-seated in our memories. Those movies not only invoke our passion of sports, they manage to cross over and teach us greater life lessons. They teach us the importance of hard work and learning from our mistakes. They teach us that the impossible can come true. Below are the Top 10 sports movies of all time.
10. Major League - This one falls under the comedy category. Willie Mays Hays, Jake Taylor, Pedro Cerano, Rick Vaughn, and Jake Taylor somehow manage to band together to win the pennant in spite of their owner. It’s not the best comedy ever, but it’s certainly the best sports comedy ever. Major League 2 is equally as good. Let’s pretend that Major League 3 was never made. Find
9. Remember the Titans – The best part about this flick is that it shows how sports can transcend society. The unification of the black and white high school is successful only because of the bonds formed between the two schools on the football field. Find
8. Rudy – How can you not be inspired watching this? No one believed in this kid and he not only got into ND, he made the football team. Most people would have given up long before Rudy, and it is a testament to his character for enduring and being able to live his dream. Find
7. Miracle – I am a huge ‘Miracle on Ice’ fan so I was a bit skeptical about the movie. Usually they find a way to screw up history. But amazingly, Disney stuck to the story nearly perfectly. By involving everyone from the original team in the making of the movie, including the late Herb Brooks, they made sure the movie was accurate. I love having Al Michaels call the action; it feels like I’m actually watching the real game! Find
6. He Got Game – This film chronicles high school senior Jesus Shuttlesworth, the best college basketball prospect in the country, as he deals with pressures from his father and girlfriend who are trying to influence his decision for their own benefit. Ray Allen is the perfect choice for Shuttlesworth because Allen WAS Shuttlesworth in real life a few years before that. How many actors can make that claim? Find
5. Eight Men Out – The best part of the movie was that they didn’t try to dumb it down for Hollywood - they made a point to follow the story as it was told in the book. This meant that it had the feel of a documentary, which is probably why this movie isn’t that popular, but true sports fans will appreciate that what they are getting is close to the truth. Find
4. Field of Dreams - This movie will appeal to sports fans and non sports fans alike. Sports fans will love how they work in Shoeless Joe and other classic greats. Non sports fans will appreciate the fantastic journey that Ray takes to build the field of his dreams. "If you build it, he will come" is one of the great movie quotes of all time. Find
3. When We Were Kings – This movie truly shows Ali as a fighter greatness. Forman is the superior fighter, but Ali uses his wit to defeat Forman in "The Rumble in the Jungle", one of the greatest fights ever. Find
2. Hoosiers – If you ever need to get pumped up, watch this movie. Nothing seems impossible after seeing Coach Norman Dale lead his team to the Indiana state championship. Find
1. The Natural – I own the DVD of The Natural and I’ve seen it more times than I can remember. Yet, anytime I see it on TV I immediately freeze and watch. It captivates me like few movies do. Roy Hobbs gets that second chance that we all want. He had the talent to be the best pitcher ever, but had it taken away by a mysterious shooter. Years later, he reappears as an outfielder and leads his team to the top of the league with his famous “Wonder Boy” bat. Find
